There were trainings.
Assignments.
Mentoring.
Reflection.
Documentation.
A comprehensive review process.
And more than once, I found myself asking:
“Why am I putting myself through this?”
Not because I don’t love coaching. I do…..Deeply.
Not because I don’t believe in continued learning. I deeply do.
But because life was still happening around the recertification process.
And in this particular season, life has been a lot.
As I shared in my recent post about grieving the loss of our beloved dog, Shadow, I’ve been moving through a tender time of loss. Grief has its own rhythm, and anyone who has loved an animal deeply knows that losing them can leave a very real ache in the everyday spaces they used to fill.
At the same time, I’ve been navigating some unexpected and serious fibromyalgia flare-ups and recovering from two eye surgeries.
So this recertification process was not happening in some perfectly calm, spacious chapter of life.
It was happening in the middle of real life.
A life with grief.
A life with body pain and fatigue.
A life with appointments, healing, responsibilities, and days when I had to adjust my expectations and take things one step at a time.
And honestly, that made the process even more meaningful.
Because coaching is not about pretending life is tidy.
It is about learning how to listen inward, find your footing, and take the next compassionate, realistic step, even when life is complicated.
The answer to that question "why am I doing this?" became clearer the deeper I got into the process.
Because great coaching matters.
Especially when life is not simple.
Especially when you are carrying more than people can see.
Especially when you are grieving, healing, overextended, uncertain, or trying to keep going while also wondering what needs to change.
Not coaching that tells you what to do.
Not coaching that hands you a five-step formula and expects your life to magically rearrange itself.
Not coaching that assumes you just need more discipline, more productivity, or more willpower.
I believe great coaching is something different.
It’s a space where you can hear yourself more clearly.
A place where you can slow down long enough to notice what actually matters.
A supportive relationship that helps you sort through the noise, reconnect with your own wisdom, and take meaningful steps forward.
Sometimes, the most powerful shift is not a dramatic breakthrough.
Sometimes it’s finally naming what you want.
Admitting what is no longer working.
Making a decision you’ve been avoiding.
Having the conversation.
Setting the boundary.
Taking the first small step toward something that has been quietly calling for your attention.
That is the kind of coaching I believe in.
And that is why I keep doing this work.
One thing I noticed during my recertification process is how easy it is to lose momentum.
Not because we don’t care.
Not because we’re lazy.
Not because we aren’t capable.
But because life is full.
There are appointments, responsibilities, emails, transitions, relationships, caregiving demands, work deadlines, health issues, family needs, and all the invisible emotional labor that never seems to make it onto the calendar.
And then summer arrives.
Schedules shift.
Travel happens.
Routines loosen.
The days feel longer, but somehow they still fill up quickly.
Before we know it, the goal we cared about, the decision we wanted to make, or the change we hoped to begin has quietly slipped to the bottom of the list.
Again.
I don’t say that with judgment.
I say it because I know how human it is.
I don’t believe summer should be about squeezing more productivity out of yourself.
Most of us already have enough pressure.
You do not need another voice telling you to optimize your mornings, overhaul your life, or become a brand-new person by Labor Day.
But I do believe summer can be an opportunity to reconnect.
Reconnect with your priorities, your energy and with the goals that have been sitting on the shelf.
Reconnect with the part of you that knows something is ready to shift, even if you’re not completely sure what the next step should be.
I know from my own recent experience that momentum does not always look like pushing harder.
Sometimes momentum looks like resting when your body is asking for rest.
Sometimes it looks like grieving honestly instead of rushing yourself through it.
Sometimes it looks like asking for help, rescheduling what needs to be rescheduled, or choosing the one next step that is actually possible.
That counts.
That matters.
And it is often where meaningful change begins.
Sometimes momentum is not about doing more.
Sometimes it is finally making one decision you have been avoiding.
Having one difficult conversation.
Clearing one small pocket of space.
Taking one meaningful step.
Giving yourself permission to focus on something that matters to you.
Or simply admitting, “I do not want to keep doing this the same way.”
That kind of honesty can be powerful.
And when you have support around it, it can become the beginning of real movement.
Not forced, frantic or performative.
Just steady, grounded, meaningful progress.
Take a moment and imagine it’s September.
Summer is over.
The routines of fall are beginning again.
You’re looking back on these next few months.
What would make you feel proud?
Not perfect.
Not completely transformed.
Just proud.
Maybe you finally made progress on something that has been weighing on you.
Maybe you navigated a life or career transition with more clarity.
Maybe you stopped overthinking and took one meaningful step.
Maybe you created a little more space for yourself.
Maybe you felt less overwhelmed because you had someone steady in your corner.
Maybe you simply showed up for yourself in a way you haven’t in a while.
That matters.
Small shifts can create big changes.
And often, those shifts happen more easily when you are not trying to make them alone.
My recent coaching recertification reminded me how valuable a focused, supportive container can be.
There is something powerful about having time set aside to reflect, sort through what is happening, clarify what matters, and decide what comes next.
That is why I created the Summer Momentum Coaching Package.
This limited-time package includes four 60-minute private coaching sessions designed to help you create meaningful movement before summer ends.
Together, we can:
Gain clarity on what is most important to you right now — and what may be getting in the way.
Sort through competing priorities, overwhelm, and self-doubt so you can focus your energy where it matters most.
Create realistic, meaningful goals that fit your life instead of adding more pressure.
Build momentum through practical action steps, accountability, and support.
Develop greater confidence in yourself and your ability to move forward.
This is not about forcing change.
It is about creating enough structure and support for change to feel possible.
This package may be a good fit if:
You feel stuck and are not sure what your next step should be.
You have been putting everyone else’s needs ahead of your own.
You have goals, but struggle with accountability.
You are navigating a transition and want support along the way.
You are tired of overthinking and ready to begin moving forward.
You know something needs to change, but you are not sure where to start.
You do not need to have it all figured out before beginning coaching.
In fact, that is often the reason people come.
I’m Lucy Seligman, an ICF-certified coach and clinical hypnotherapist, and I’ve been helping people create meaningful change since 2011.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with executives, entrepreneurs, creatives, caregivers, professionals, and everyday people navigating life’s challenges and opportunities.
I’ve supported clients through major life and career transitions, stress and overwhelm, confidence-building, boundary-setting, fear, uncertainty, self-doubt, and seasons that required deeper resilience.
My coaching style combines compassionate support with practical action.
I provide a safe space where you can think out loud, gain perspective, explore possibilities, and create a path forward that feels authentic to you.
If you have been waiting for the “right time” to invest in yourself, consider this your invitation.
Summer has a way of passing too quickly.
Imagine arriving in September feeling clearer, stronger, and proud of the progress you made — instead of wondering where the time went.
The Summer Momentum Coaching Package includes:
Four 60-minute private coaching sessions
Investment: $425
Regular value: $600
Open to new and returning clients
Purchase by July 15th, 2026
